Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Anikwe Duru ("Wake," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Wake mobile app (the "App"). By using Wake, you agree to the practices described here.
We built Wake to be respectful of your data: we collect only what the App needs to build your morning routines and run your account, we do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: your email address and password. (Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form — we never see your plaintext password.)
- Profile details: your first name, optional last name, age range, gender, and your morning preferences (what you want mornings to do for you, how your mornings usually start, and your preferred routine length).
- Daily check-ins and reflections: your self-reported morning readiness and the day's demand, and in the evening your energy, mood, and focus ratings, a "look-back" on the day, which routine steps you completed, and any free-text note you choose to write.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: if you grant location permission, the App reads your device's location to show local weather on your morning screen. Your coordinates are sent to a weather service to retrieve the forecast and are not stored by us. If you deny permission, the App simply omits the weather and works normally.
- Device and technical data: basic information needed to operate and deliver the App (for example, app version and device type), handled by our infrastructure providers.
We do not collect contacts, photos, browsing history, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and maintain your account;
- generate and personalize your daily morning routines based on your preferences and reflections;
- show you your history, trends, and insights within the App;
- show local weather (if you allow location);
- process your subscription and provide customer support;
- keep the App secure and working, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
3. How your information is shared
We share information only with service providers ("subprocessors") that help us run the App, each acting on our behalf and bound to protect your data:
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication; stores your account, profile, and reflection data.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — when we build your personalized routine, a summary of your recent reflections and preferences is sent to Anthropic's API to generate routine suggestions. This data is processed to return your routine and is not used to train models under our API terms.
- Apple — processes your subscription purchases and payments. Apple, not Wake, handles your payment details; we never receive your full payment-card information.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status on our behalf (when in-app purchases are enabled).
- Open-Meteo — receives your approximate coordinates (if you enable location) to return local weather. It does not receive your identity.
- Expo / EAS — builds and delivers the App.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a business transfer (e.g., a merger or acquisition), in which case we will notify you.
4. Sensitive information
Some of what you log — your mood, energy, and reflections — may be considered sensitive in your region. We treat it with care, never sell it, and use it only to operate and personalize the App as described above. You can delete this data at any time by deleting your account (see Section 7).
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and reflection data from our systems. Some records may persist briefly in encrypted backups or where retention is required by law, after which they are removed.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, use the in-app account tools or contact us at support@trywake.org. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
You can also:
- revoke location access anytime in your device settings;
- manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings;
- delete your account from within the App.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your account and associated data from within the App (in Settings). Deletion is permanent and removes your profile and reflection history. You may also contact us at support@trywake.org for help.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls that ensure you can only access your own records. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to notify you of breaches as required by law.
9. Children's privacy
Wake is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us at support@trywake.org and we will delete it.
10. International users
We may process and store your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide notice within the App.
